Realme 6
Realme started the year with some new models in the budget segment and the all-new 5G capable flagship. Now the company has launched the upgrade series of Realme 5 series, which includes Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro. Realme 6 is the affordable phone of this series, which has a hole-punch display with a 90Hz refresh rate. This is Reality's first budget device, using a high-refresh rate display. Even at this price, mobile with 90Hz display is not available in the market. The phone comes with a powerful MediaTek Helio G90T chipset, which has been seen in the Redmi Note 8 Pro before.
However, here the price of this phone has surprised us a bit. The initial price of Realme 6 in India is Rs. 12,999. The phone has a slightly higher price, but will the phone be able to impress us with its features to prove this price to be a reasonable price? To know this, we have reviewed Realme 6. Is this the best budget smartphone you should buy without waiting? Let's know.
Realme 6 Specification

The rest of the specs include side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Blutooth 5.0, USB type C 2.0, and all the other essential connectivity options.
Realme 6 Price in India
Realme 6 smartphone price in India is Rs 12,999. Realme 6 was launched in the country onMarch 5, 2020 (Official) .The smartphone comes in 2 other storage and RAM variants - Realme 6 128GB, Realme 6 8GB RAM. As for the color options, the Realme 6 smartphone comes in Comet Blue, Comet White colors
Realme 6 display
Talking about the display, a 6.5-inch LCD panel is given with 20: 9 aspect ratios and Gorilla Glass 3 glass protection. The display bezel with FHD resolution is quite thin. Realme has not used an AMOLED display this time which disappoints a bit.
The special feature given in the phone is the 90Hz refresh rate display. In this price, you do not get the option of 90Hz refresh rate in any phone. User Experience becomes very good with this.
By default, the display looks a bit bluish and the color, contrast also looks average. You can also change the color profile under display settings. On maximum brightness you can read on the display in sunlight but it could have been even better.
Realme 6 design
Instead of Sunrise design on its lowest cost model, My True Look has introduced a new comet design. A gradient finishes with multiple stripes running below the true background, converting to the bottom center where the charging port is. It shines when the light hits, giving this phone a premium look.
The corners of Realme 6 are rounded so that it does not dig into your palm while you are holding the device. The rear is slightly curved which makes it comfortable to hold. As a first, Realme has opted for a side-mounted fingerprint scanner which is located on the right side of the device. We liked the placement because the thumbs naturally relax while holding the smartphone in the right hand. If you are left-handed, you may have to enroll your left index finger and thumb to unlock the smartphone.
Realme 6 has a hole-punch display and slot for two nano-SIMs as well as a microSD card
Realme has moved the volume buttons to the left and placed them slightly down which makes them easier to hit. The SIM tray is just above the volume button and flushes with the body. We noticed that the phone is slightly thicker at 9.6mm and is packed in a 4,300mAh battery. The weight of this phone is 191g which is manageable. Realme has finally moved to the USB Type-C standard, which was long overdue. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack and loudspeaker grille with Type-C port.
Like most recently launched smartphones in the market, Realme 6 has a quad-camera setup at the back. The module is slightly stretched but has a metal trim around it which should prevent it from getting scratched. Speaking of which, you should note that the rear panel is not glass, and may pick up minor scratches and scratches. Realme has bundled a clear case in the box that we recommend you use
Realme 6 performance and battery life
Realme 6's spec sheet looks interesting and it translates to good performance in day-to-day use. The 90Hz refresh rate makes the interface very smooth. We found the display to be slightly reflective under sunlight, but the panel became bright enough to see the material. We found decent viewing angles, and this phone lets you change the color temperature of the panel.
The side-mounted fingerprint scanner on Realme 6 is quick to unlock the smartphone and we didn't have any issues with it. We have also set up face recognition which uses a selfie camera. We also found it super quick. Once the lifting feature is enabled, unlocking the smartphone requires very little effort.
Realme 6 Gaming
With the MediaTek Helio G90T, we were excited to try out gaming on the Realme 6. The phone breezes through small and medium-level graphic-intensive games. On PUBG, we could play at high frame rates at up to HDR graphics and keeping graphics on smooth even unlocked the extreme frame-rate option. Gaming remained smooth and though the phone got warm after extended gaming, the performance was not really affected
Realme 6 camera performance
On the rear side of the Realme 6 Pro you get to see the quad camera setup. It has 64MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide angle and 2MP macro and mono sensor.
The camera setup looks similar to the affordable Realme X2 in the phone and the camera output is also very similar.
The details are better seen in good lighting with the 64MP primary sensor. The colors also look natural to a large extent.
Camera performance drops slightly in in-door and low-light as the image is soft due to too much noise reduction in the output.
When the lighting is good, the photo from the wide-angle is a good click but mostly you do not use it.
64MP primary sensor
8MP wide-angle camera
In Portrait mode, apart from clicking good images, you can reduce or reduce blur from the camera application itself.
Face beautification is found on by default in the phone, so you have to select natural mode every time, which seems a bit strange. Selfie camera mostly gives you good output.
Clicking images with a macro lens from 2MP is also average, so there is nothing special to be said about image quality.
Looking at this price segment, camera performance can be said to be good because at such a price you cannot expect too much. Redmi Note 8 Pro and Poco X2 can be said to be better in terms of camera performance.
Realme 6 has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner
We were happy with the performance of Realme 6 as we never had to wait long for the apps to load. With 8GB of RAM on our device, it can easily multitask without the need to terminate apps in the background. App load time was also short.
We ran the benchmark on Realme 6 to see where it stands compared to some other smartphones we've tested recently. In the AnTuTu benchmark, Realme 6 managed to get 290,210 points, which is surprisingly higher than the score the Poco X2 (Review) managed. In Geekbench 5's single-core and multi-core tests, Realme 6 scored 467 and 1688 points respectively. Realme 6 scored 59fps and 25fps in GFXBench T-Rex and Manhattan 3.1.
Mediate has deployed the Helio G90 series as a gaming processor and we were curious to see how Realme 6 would fare with gaming. We played PUBG Mobile on a smartphone and it defaulted to high settings with graphics set to HD and frame rates set to high. We did not notice any lag or stutter while playing the game in these settings. After about 20 minutes we notice that the smartphone is slightly warmed up by touch.
Realme 6 has switched to USB Type C port
The battery life of Realme 6 is quite good. It managed to run for 19 hours, 26 minutes in our HD video loop test. With our usage, Realme 6 managed to last a day and a half before needing to be plugged in. The box has a 30W fast charger. Using it, the phone reached 65 percent in 30 minutes and took over an hour to fully charge.
Realme 6 Conclusion
Realme has once again given a great smartphone at a reasonable price. Realme 6 comes with a powerful processor, gives good battery life, and also comes with a 30W fast charger in the box. The company has also improved the Realme UI, but we want the company to reduce bloatware (unwanted apps) in the future. If you are looking for a value for money device at a price of Rs 15,000 or around, then you can wait for some time for the launch of Xiaomi's Redmi Note 9 series. However, we believe that you will also be satisfied with Reality 6.
